Jasmina Obhođaš
Scientific Advisor
Head of the Laboratory for Nuclear Analytical Methods, Ruđer Bošković Institute
Dr.sc. Jasmina Obhođaš was born on December 12, 1974. She has been working at the Ruđer Bošković Institute, Zagreb, Croatia, in the Department of Experimental Physics since 2001. In 2009, she and her group established the Laboratory for Nuclear Analytical Methods. Her responsibilities include laboratory and project management, personnel administration and the supervision of young researchers. Her research focuses on the development of atomic and nuclear techniques, neutron activation, X-ray fluorescence analysis and data analysis. Over the past 20 years, she has been involved in the development of a fast neutron activation method for in-situ chemical analysis of cargo in shipping containers and in the development of neutron sensors for underwater chemical in-situ characterization. These techniques are used for detection of threat materials without the need to open sealed containers and are being developed to make green and blue state borders safer. It should be noted that the above mentioned techniques can also be used for other scientific and industrial applications in various fields and disciplines wherever laboratory or in-situ analysis of the composition of chemical elements is important. She has more than 20 years of experience working on EU and other international projects, including IAEA, NATO and ESA projects. She has published over 80 scientific publications with more than 600 citations. Key recent publications include articles in journals such as Nuclear Instruments and Methods, Radiation Physics and Chemistry, Applied Radiation and Isotopes, IEEE Transactions on Nuclear Science, Scientific Reports, Fuel, Journal of Hazardous Materials, The Astronomical Journal, Land and others.
